Ingrid Anderson

Ingrid Anderson is a well known NZ textile designer and the owner of Ingrid Anderson textile design. She creates screen printed fabrics with an innate connection to local design, heritage and contemporary art. Ingrid is also a secondary trained technology textile teacher who brings industry practice expertise in applied design and textile product development into her teaching. Ingrid is both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her subject area and has been very successful in delivering more learner focus hands on programmes in the creative practices.

Ingrid has a strong community ethos and her approach to both her teaching and business practice has been to share skills and support local with an ethical focus on sustainability as much as possible.

In the early business years she enjoyed taking on design students as interns in their final year of their design degree, providing much needed work experience. This led to gaining a teaching degree in technology (textiles) which she enjoys alongside facilitating textile workshops in the wider community.

Ingrid is passionate about bringing in new innovative projects to achieve curriculum learning outcomes.

Her workshops include hands-on activities in screen printing, felting, and weaving which can be adapted to the classroom teaching environment within the technology curriculum.

Ingrid has found in her teaching practice that these fun and creative activities, allow students to bring in relevant prior learning and ownership to improve student motivation at all levels.
