Aaron designed and set up an aquaculture mini facility at Kaitaia College, where they successfully bred Paua, and educated over 1500 students on the environmental restoration required for this taonga species.

He worked for 25 years teaching biology and environmental education, mostly in the far North. Recently he was responsible for running the Moana Restoration Courses for Papa Taiao Earthcare. This included some exciting STEM applications such as working with students prototyping and building a full functional underwater drone which was used for underwater surveys and marine pest identification.

Here is a great story about the work Aaron is doing, by Radio New Zealand.

WE DO FIELD WORK THAT IS ACCESSIBLE TO ANYONE

We grew up outside, connected with the nature and believe that our kids should go outside too.

Here, at Field-based STEM, we are all working as a big team. Tap into our collective expertise.

"Unlike scientific community programmes that are expensive and require lots of investment, field work is done by individuals and is accessible to anyone. The skills gained during field work open up a huge area for everyone undertaking it."
