Shelley Hersey

Shelley grew up in Ōtepoti Dunedin exploring wild southern landscapes. Here she developed a love for the environment and outdoor pursuits. She is a passionate conservationist and is keen to share effective ways to engage rangatahi in field-based learning activities.

These curriculum rich activities are designed to inspire and empower ākonga to take action for their local environment.

Shelley can connect educators and their students to places they may not otherwise experience and create relevant, authentic learning experiences focusing on earth science, biology and ecology.

WE DO FIELD WORK THAT IS ACCESSIBLE TO ANYONE

We grew up outside, connected with the nature and believe that our kids should go outside too.

Here, at Field-based STEM, we are all working as a big team. Tap into our collective expertise.

"Unlike scientific community programmes that are expensive and require lots of investment, field work is done by individuals and is accessible to anyone. The skills gained during field work open up a huge area for everyone undertaking it."
